hair today, gone tomorrow

Drumroll please..........

Canyons been asking me for weeks for a hair cut. I hoped thought she was kidding.
I'd ask "how short do you want it?" she'd hold up her thumb and pointer finger and say "this much" as in short like Porter's & Linc's.
I talked her into cutting it to her shoulders like her friend Amylia's.  She was happy with that idea.
I asked Alison when she could cut it and she said, how bout now.
Canyon was so excited & she was such a big girl she just stood there the whole time serious faced and all.

I loved all her long curls, but man oh man my mornings were getting rediculous. Canyon only wanted hot water in the spray bottle, pink comb only, if it hurt she'd rub her hair...all of her hair & I'd have to start over.  I've tried so many curl & detangler products I lost count.  Hopefully this will be a little easier to work with.
can you see my fingers are crossed?

I don't know if she still has any curl left, Alison straightened it to make sure she got all the straglers.  I guess we'll see with tomorrows bath.

Re-Fashion

I've been reading alot of blogs that re-fashion clothes... as in turning your old crap into something great..
sure, i'll try it.....cheap....I love cheap....free.... even better.
I began by looking in my closet for something I don't wear or shouldn't wear anymore.

Bring on the T.J Maxx jacket from 10th grade.

yes you read that right 10th grade. don't laugh, you never know when you might need a ugly red jacket.
I did it, I thought today is the day i will get rid of this wretched thing.
I started cutting & cutting...and sewing & sewing...until...

Wah-Lah

Jacket turned skirt
Some ruffles, some pockets & there you have it, my first RE-Fashion.
I wish I would have taken a before pic, it was pretty ugly ( why doesn't anyone tell me these things?)
oh don't worry I have more re-fashions to come- Mah Hah hah hah

"Hey mom can you button this"

December 1981

January 2007

February 2010

"Hey mom can you button this?" out comes Canyon in her blessing dress. Honestly my first reaction I was a little mad, I didn't want it ruined, it was my blessing dress from 28 years ago & again Canyons ....but then I looked at her....she looked so beautiful, at least from the waist up.  I let her spin, dance and twirl for a few minutes and then we put it away... just a little higher this time.

Happy Valentines Day

My scrumptious valentine kids

My goofy scrumptious valentine kids

The coolest valentines ever

Since my new hobby is blog stalking, I have so many crafts going on in my brain I wanna try.  A few have happened, but not many.  I did come across this super easy one from 24-7-365
I think they turned out awesome.
I wish I would've gotten to this sooner as 1-hour photos cost me $7 dollars extra.  otherwise it would've all cost about the same as the usual v-day cards. oh well maybe next year.
HAPPY VALENTINES DAY

KYLE KORVER

The Jr. Jazz had a meet the player night.  we thought it could be fun for the kids, especially since porter is now an official JR. Jazz Player.
The parking lot was PACKED. we had to park a little ways up the road. Along our hike we were joking about who the mystery Jazz player would be...water boy....Jerry Sloan...parking attendant. I also threw out  "what if it was
Kyle Korver!!" ha ha ha.
we found some seats, then the announcement came
-Utah Jazz forward-
-Standing at 6'7''-
-212 1bs-
-#26-
-KYLE KORVER-

Kinda cool huh? He played some games with the kids & answered some Q & A's

Afterward we went to Burger King (us & the kids, not Kyle) for some ice cream & playland germs, then across the parking lot for some movie rentals & more germs.
What a great evening with my great family.

camera withdrawls

                   Sorry no pictures lately.

My pink little camera has broken.
Ryan gave me this camera the day after Lincoln was born for my birthday, which makes this camera only 16 monthsish old.  I've googled, i've e-mailed, i've ebayed & can't seem to fix it.  To have the darn thing fixed it would cost me $114.00!! what? I know.... I can buy one for that, so that is what I plan to do.

Working only one day a week at the spa will require me to save a few paychecks, so this may take awhile, you'll have to sit tight & be patient.
In the mean time here are a few illustrations to better demonstrate a day in the life of THE BRITT'S.

Porter:  Mom do you have any bubblegum?
                   Me (the mom): Nope
                   Porter:SHIT!
Me: Come with me it's time for a talk
                   Porter: Uggggg
Me: Porter that's a swear word & we don't say that in our family.
                  Porter: What's a swear word?
Me: It's a bad word & it makes heavenly father & Jesus sad when you say it.
Porter: Ok, what can I say?
                  Me: you can say..shoot...dang...oh man
                  Porter: -k- I'll remember
                  Me: Love you
                  Porter: -K-
                  Me: LOVE YOU !!!
                  Porter: Love you

HEAD

Yes, we have to buy hats custom made.

Monster Truckin Time

My Monster Truckin Kids.

My fantastic in-laws took the two older kids to the Monster Trucks a couple weekends ago.  Porter said it was awesome and Canyon said it was loud, but they both can't wait to go again.
They came home with checkered flags and a Mountain Dew Slurpee high.

Don't call girls names!

I picked up Porter from school & as he walked closer to me I noticed he was crying, not just crying, full on tears, can't catch your breath, snot all over crying. his teacher was right behind him.
She told me he said something to a girl in his class and the girl didn't like what he said resulting in this............

We had a talk with Porter about calling people names, although i'm not really 100% sure what happend or what was said. According to Porter somebody called her a baby so he said it too? I say this with a question mark, a big huge question mark.
He wrote her a note and told her sorry.  She made him a sorry note too. (great moms think alike)
P.S. she also kicked & hit him. gee whiz almighty

Moral of the story....don't call people names (especially girls!)

christmas tradition

Christmas pics 2009

Canyon, Lincoln & Porter

Porter & Madi

Who can pass up a family photo op

Every year my parents buy all the grandkids matching christmas outfits.  We line up chairs, have backup distractions, funny faces ready & the camera aimed and ready to fire.
Some kids cry, some laugh and some simply just walk away.  some how every year my parents make it work and it has turned out to be a great family tradition. Oh and let's not forget the ever so delicious Allys pizza and salads...yummy

daddy daughter date

Ryan took Canyon on her fieldtrip to the christmas village in ogden. Once again I stayed home as far away from the snow as possible.
Afterwards it was a grilled cheese sandwich at Warrens.  Ryan told me he had a blast hanging out just him and her.  It doesn't happen very often or infact ever, there's usually a tag-a-long or two.

Grandpa Walt

I lost my dearest Grandpa this last December and i miss him terribly. I guess that's my problem with getting older, everyone else around me get's older too.
I am blessed and fortunate enough to know that we'll see him again someday.  Until then we will think of you often & remember you as you were, happy, loving and great.
